Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI)
The SNIA launched the Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI) to develop industry standards for cloud-based storage. The CSI resulted in the publication of the Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI), a functional interface that defines how applications create, retrieve, update and delete data elements from clouds. By using the CDMI, cloud consumers are able to discover and exploit the capabilities of any cloud storage device of different cloud providers.

Liberty Identity Assurance Framework (LIAF)
The Liberty Alliance has published the Liberty Identity Assurance Framework (LIAF) that aims to facilitate trusted identity federation and promote uniformity and interoperability amongst identity service providers (including cloud providers). The main building blocks of LIAF are assurance level criteria, service assessment criteria, and accreditation and certification rules.

NIST Definition of Cloud Computing
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s definition of cloud computing characterizes as a model that enables access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. The model means that these resources can be provisioned and released quickly and with minimal effort in terms of management or service provider interactions. It is characterized by the following characteristics: on-demand self service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity, and measured service. It is associated with the service models: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). And it can be deployed following one of four models: private cloud, community cloud, public cloud, or hybrid cloud.

Open Group Cloud Computing
The Open Group has a dedicated Cloud Work Group, an initiative that aims at supporting organizations to incorporate cloud technologies within their architectures. The Open Group is developing a business scenario based on end-user requirements and that supports the investigation of the factors that are decisive for realizing cloud computing benefits.

Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI)
The OGF launched the Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) working group to deliver an API specification for the remote management of cloud computing infrastructure. The OCCI specification allows for the development of interoperable tools for common tasks including deployment, autonomic scaling and monitoring. The specification consists of the following parts: Core and Models, Infrastructure Models, XHTML5 rendering, HTTP Header rendering.

Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Cloud Computing
The CSA is focused on providing best practices for security assurance within cloud computing. The CSA has published the "Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Cloud Computing" paper that aims at supporting organizations with the adoption of cloud computing. In addition, this guidance provides a framework that can be sued to evaluate risks and assess security concerns relevant to cloud computing.
